How to stop a bully

Throughout our lives, we will either experience or witness bullying. It does NOT have to be this way.

*NO Race, Ethnic background, Disability, Gender, Sexual Orientation, or Economic Status is a reason to bully someone*

A bully has most likely been bullied and that person has insecurities that they project on others.

Acceptance of others is a trait that is both important and self-empowering.

Here are a few steps that a 9 year old helped me create:

1. Use your voice. The word "NO" is not always so easy to use, but show that you have control over yourself and the situation.
2. Do not be afraid to ask for HELP.  People like your parents, teachers, police officers, and older siblings can always help.
3. Act quickly. Bullying can turn into a big situation quickly, so get the help you deserve ASAP.
4. Dont give away your power. You are powerful, stay that way. By crying and giving into teasing or name calling, you are giving away your special power. I know that it is tough to stay strong, I was bullied too.
5. Use the power of silence. By ignoring your bully, they no longer can see your reaction. Which makes it appear to them that you don't care.
6. Finally, do not become friends with your bully even if they apologize. They do not deserve your friendship or attention. Allow positive and loving people to gain your respect.

Just know that this will end. I believe in you. The world is rooting for you to overcome this :)
